Social and emotional growth is the spine of Stay & Play. Through our Citizen Program, children practice the habits that make a good classmate and a good neighbor: listening closely, taking turns, sharing credit, settling small disagreements on their own, and showing up for the group.
Every afternoon activity connects back to it, so character is something children build by doing rather than something they are told about.

Stay & Play: After-School Care Built on Belonging
Cresthill Academy’s Stay & Play program gives New Jersey families a single, dependable answer to the hours between the school bell and the end of the workday. Children ages 3 to 5 are picked up from participating local schools by staff they recognize and brought to a Cresthill classroom for a structured afternoon: homework support first, then planned enrichment, then time to be a kid with other kids. Because our teachers see the same children every day, they learn how each child works, where the sticking points are, and when a quiet corner matters more than another activity.
The afternoon is organized around the Cresthill Citizen Program, our social and emotional curriculum for school-age care. Science, technology, engineering, arts, and math projects give children a concrete problem to solve together. Team games teach the harder lessons, including how to lose a round and start the next one well. Indoor and outdoor fitness rounds out the day with real physical activity. When schools close for winter break, spring break, and summer, the same program runs full-day, so families are never left assembling coverage week by week. FlexPass, our pre-paid drop-in option, joins the program in the 2027 school year for families who need occasional days rather than a standing schedule.
